Move from the start date month by month until you are one month short of the end date.

Step 2 — Add the leftover days

Count the remaining days to reach the end date, borrowing the length of the actual calendar month so February and the 31-day months are handled correctly.

Step 3 — Convert if you need a single number

To express the whole gap as one running total of days, add up the days in every month in between. The calculator does this instantly, including leap years.

Should you include the end date?

It depends on what you are measuring. If you want the number of nights between two dates, you exclude the end date. If you are counting the dates themselves — for example, how many days an event runs, counting both the first and last day — you include it.
