Your Level 10 Life

According to the author of “The Miracle Morning” book, Hal Elrod, most people live a mediocre life even though they have more potential. If we don’t change, then our life won’t change. To improve our life, we need to consistently invest time working on self-improvement.

If we measure success in any area of our life from 1 to 10, then we all strive for a “Level 10”. In order to achieve “Level 10” success, we need to focus on self-improvement and develop ourselves into the person who can attract, create and sustain the levels of success we strive to achieve. Therefore, we need to dedicate some time to improving ourselves each day. The best time to do this is in the morning.

The Miracle Morning Routine

Hal Elrod lists 6 steps we can take to improve ourselves during a dedicated morning routine called the Miracle Morning routine.

In order to get the most out of your morning, you need to wake up with a purpose and a sense of excitement. Therefore, the morning ritual starts before you go to sleep.

Before you drift off, think about what you will do the next day with anticipation. Don’t say to yourself you will wake up tired. Instead, convince yourself you will wake up alert and ready to face your exciting day. That will ensure you wake up with a positive mindset. The author refers to this as your “Wake Up Motivation Level”. The Wake Up Motivation Level can be described on a scale of 1 (you want to go back to sleep) to 10 (you are eager to rise).

The book describes basic techniques that you bring you to Level 10 and get you to wake up with a sense of purpose and excitement.

Use our free custom morning routine maker to customize a morning routine for your specific needs.

Before you go to sleep:

  1. Affirm to yourself that you will wake up the next morning feeling refreshed, alert, and ready to start your day. Look forward to the day!
  2. Place your alarm clock far from your bed on the other side of the room. This will force you to get out of bed to turn it off.

When you wake up:

  1. Go and brush your teeth to give you a feeling of freshness. If washing your face helps you wake up, then do this too.
  2. Drink a glass of water. This will allow you to rehydrate, which also helps you feel alert.

You are now ready to start the Miracle Morning routine.

Miracle Morning Savers

The Miracle Morning Savers are:

S – silence

A – affirmations

V – visualization

E – exercise

R – reading

S – scribing or writing

S – Purposeful silence

To start your morning routine, practice purposeful silence such as meditation to help you reduce stress. The book describes the Miracle Morning Meditation during which you sit in a quiet comfortable spot, close your eyes and pay attention to your breath. Inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth. Breath slowly and deeply into your belly. Try to push away thoughts if they enter your mind, but don’t fight them just concentrate on your breathing.

If meditation isn’t your thing, then try taking time for reflection or gratitude.

A – Affirmation

Our brains are subconsciously programmed by the way we talk to ourselves. We can change our self-talk by using positive affirmation quotes. Our self-talk can work for us or against us depending on if it is positive or negative. To turn your thoughts into positive affirmations, take your affirmation journal, and write down:

  1. What do I want? How you want your life to look in every area.
  2. Why do I want it? Clarify your motives and ask yourself why you want what you want.
  3. What am I committed to doing in order to get there? Ask yourself what you are committed to doing to get your life there or to improve it.

Once you have created your affirmation, read it out to yourself at least once a day. You can also create positive affirmation cards with affirmation quotes and read them to yourself every morning.

V – Visualization

Visualize the life of your dreams. Visualize yourself working to reach and eventually achieving your goals.

E – Morning exercise

Morning exercise will keep your body healthy, get your blood pumping and make you feel great.

It will help you feel more focused and allow you to maintain increased energy levels throughout your day.

See our exercise tracker to track your daily workouts.

R –  Reading

Spend some time reading in the morning. Books on personal development are ideal to gain insight from others. Aim to read at least 10 pages a day, which should take you around 10 to 20 minutes. If you keep this up, you can actually read about 18 books a year!

See our reading log to keep track of what you read

S – Scribing

Scribing or writing can help you reflect on your successes and move toward your ideal life.

Spend about 5 to 10 minutes every morning writing in your journal. This will accelerate your personal growth.

Write down your thoughts, feelings, and insights. Write in a gratitude journal. This will help you focus on what you have already achieved, as well as what you still want to achieve.

The author, Hal Elrod, suggests you split a page into two columns entitled Lessons Learned and New Commitments. This can help you stop making the same mistakes and commit to changes you want to make in life.

Customize the Miracle Morning to fit your specific needs!

Take the 6 morning habits and fit them into your morning. Assuming your morning routine is 60 minutes, you can spend 10 minutes on each activity or 30 minutes on exercise and 6 minutes on the other 5 morning habits. Create your ideal Miracle Morning routine that will work for you. If you cannot spend 60 minutes in the morning then take only 6 minutes and spend 1 minute on each morning habit. Do what works for you.

Get an accountability partner

One of the best ways to make your Miracle Morning a new habit is to get an accountability partner who wishes to do the Miracle Morning with you. An accountability partner will help you stick to your new routine until it becomes a habit. We tend to stick to habits more when other people hold us accountable for our behavior. Check in with each other daily to make sure that you are both on track.
