Free recipe template to ensure you never lose your favorite recipes. Different sizes and designs (online designer, typeable PDF, MS Word, Google Docs).
Free Online Recipe Maker
Our free recipe maker lets you create a printable recipe template in your browser โ no sign-up, no software, and nothing to install. Type your recipe in, or paste one you already have, and the recipe maker formats it for you. Download it as a PDF or an editable Word document, or print it straight from your browser.
Choose from five designs and three sizes: a full-size recipe page template (8″x11″), a standard recipe card (4″x6″), or a smaller card (3″x5″). Cards can print at their exact size for index cards, or laid out on a letter sheet with cut marks so you get two or three per page.
You can also leave it empty. Switch to blank mode and the recipe maker creates a blank recipe template to print and fill in by hand โ and you can print up to 50 blank pages at once to fill a whole recipe binder.
Paste a Recipe and We’ll Sort It Out
This is the part that saves the most time. Copy a recipe from anywhere โ a website, an email, a document, your own notes โ paste it into the recipe maker, and it works out which lines are ingredients and which are directions. It picks up the prep time, cook time, servings, and oven temperature too, and skips the parts that aren’t the recipe. Everything stays editable afterward, so you can fix anything it got wrong.
Make a Whole Recipe Book
Save as many recipes as you like to your recipe book, then download them all as one PDF with a cover page and your own title โ a free recipe book template built from your own recipes. It makes a lovely gift for a new home, a wedding, or passing family recipes down to your kids.

Your recipes are saved in your browser, so you can close the page and come back later to add more or make changes.

The Word version enables you to edit the recipe template to suit your needs.
My kids are fussy eaters. It’s difficult to find recipes everyone loves. I get really excited when I find a keeper. I hate it when they ask me to make something I made before, and I don’t remember where the recipe was from or how I made it. Since I have started keeping track of recipes I love I find cooking so much easier. I now have a collection of a few recipes that they love and I just keep making them over and over. I have stopped making things they don’t like. Sometimes I try a new recipe and if they like it, I add it to my recipe book. If not, I don’t. I hate cooking so I would rather make things they like than waste time on recipes that they don’t like.
FAQ
There are three different formats that are all useful. If you want to edit the template then the Word version will probably work best for you. If you want to add a photo then the online recipe maker might be more useful. If you want to double or triple a recipe, then the recipe template Excel might be most suitable. The Excel version is also a recipe cost calculator. You can enter the cost of each ingredient and the food cost spreadsheet will work out the price per unit or portion. This is helpful if you are selling the food and need to price each portion.
We offer a free editable recipe template in Microsoft Word format. You will also find a recipe card template for Word. These templates are available in many different designs.

My name is
I cannot imagine your ability to create this wonderful website of so many templates to share. Thank you SO much for sharing. Now I just need to decide which template to use, and which book cover. I have a hundred recipes from the last 48 years of marriage I’d like to actually share with my two daughters instead of my sloppy writing. I’m looking forward to this project. Thanks again.
That sounds like an amazing project! Your daughters are so lucky!
Beautiful and very helpful!!!
I never saw the recipe book cover template only the recipe card template.
Doris, Thanks for letting me know that this wasn’t clear. I made it clearer and added many more recipe book covers. I hope you like them!
How do you change the font size in your title?
Iโm not sure which version youโre referring to but you need to either choose the Word or Google Docs version. If youโre using the online designer then you click on the title and drag it from the bottom corner to make it bigger or just select a bigger font size.
Can we save to the program and come back and make changes later ?
Yes you can. But it is saved in your browser so if you clear your browser then it will be deleted.
How can I set up a Word template for three 3×5 recipe cards on one page? I have Avery 5388 template blank sheets, but they don’t seem to be compatible with Word.
Hi Karen,
I have added two Avery 5388 templates with recipe cards that you can use. I hope that they help you.
