What is the Be-Do-Have Model?
The be-do-have model is a good way to think about your life and your purpose. It will help you take control of your life and understand who you need to be and what you need to do to reach your goals. All you have to do is answer the following three questions:
Be – Who do I want to be to reach my goals?
Do – What do I need to do to make my goals happen?
Have – What do I want to have or achieve?
How Does the Be Do Have Model Help you Reach Your Goals?
When you are trying to reach your goals, you cannot only focus on what you want to achieve or to get. You have to give thought to who you need to BE in order to DO what it takes to reach those goals and HAVE whatever it is that you want. When you do this, you will increase your chances of reaching your goals considerably. This is called the be-do-have mindset.
For example, if you want to lose weight and keep it off you will want to BE a person who is mindful of what they eat and prioritizes exercise.
Being the person you need to be to reach your goals often requires you to step out of your comfort zone.
In order to reach your goals, you need to BE the person that is going to DO the things required to reach your goals and HAVE the things you want to have.
Here are the questions that you will need to answer for each goal you have. The following worksheet will help you answer each of the questions.
Who do I want to be to reach my goals? This is a state of mind. These are the qualities that you will need to reach your goals. List these qualities in the worksheet below.
What do I need to do to make my goals happen? These are the actions that you need to get done or things you need to do.
What do I want to have or achieve? These are my goals or the results of the process.
