Every human being has a body and a mind. We feed our body with food but it is our mind that controls which food we eat and how much.
Most people are totally focused on their body (their physical existence) and are not really in touch with their minds. We focus on feeding our bodies, moving our bodies, and other physical desires.
In addition to our physical body, we also have a “mental body” that focuses on thoughts. Our mental body creates our thoughts. These thoughts determine our mood, our behavior, and control our physical bodies. Therefore, it is our mind that controls our body. We think a thought and then we use our body to express the thought but the thought comes from our mind.
The problem with most diets and weight loss programs is that they focus on the physical aspect only. However, it is your thoughts that determine how much you will eat and if you will exercise or not. If you focus only on the physical level and not the mental level, then you will not succeed. It is your thoughts that caused you to gain weight so it is your thoughts that will help you lose weight and keep it off.
When your weight loss journey combines physical effort with a clear mental vision and a determined attitude, then you are on the right path. You need to think like a thin person to become a thin person. When your mind starts to think like a thin person, then your body will also become thin.
How to Get Your Mind to Want to Lose Weight
Now that we have determined that we need to get our mind with the program, the question is how we do that? How do we motivate our minds to lose weight?
Set a Weight Loss Goal
In order to get anywhere, we need to know where we are going. Set a realistic weight loss goal. Set a SMART goal but make sure you have realistic expectations. If it took you years to gain the weight you cannot lose it in weeks. Since you do not have total control over your weight loss, it is better to make your goals things that you have control over such as limiting your snacks, eating 5 vegetables a day, exercising, making sure each meal is mostly vegetables, etc. See weight loss trackers to keep track of your weight loss.
Make sure that the weight you want to reach is a healthy and realistic body weight according to your body and not according to the influencers in society today. The concept of an ideal weight is often distorted by models with eating disorders. To determine your healthy and realistic weight, visit a qualified physician.
Weight Loss Affirmations
These are positive statements that change your mindset and reprogram your subconscious. See weight loss affirmations
Weight Loss Rewards
Some people find that working toward a goal motivates them. If this works for you, then set a nonfood goal and go for it! See weight loss rewards.
Many people have many self-limiting beliefs related to weight loss. For example, I cannot lose weight, I am overweight because of my genes or my metabolism, I cannot stick to a diet, etc. These self-limiting beliefs are nearly always incorrect and are based on a misinterpretation of past events or other peoples’ opinions. The problem with these beliefs is that they prevent you from having experiences that contradict them. For example, if you decide you cannot lose weight because you have bad genes then you won’t really give it your best try. However, if you consider another explanation, such as you have bad eating habits you learned at home and you and your parents overeat which is why you are both overweight, then you might give a weight loss program a real chance. When you believe that any chance to lose weight is doomed then you will have no motivation to try. Make a list of all your limiting beliefs regarding weight loss and try to reframe them, replace them with empowering thoughts, or find alternative explanations. See limiting beliefs for an explanation on how to overcome self-limiting beliefs and for a free printable journal to help you through the process.
I find that when I don’t feel self-love I have less respect for my body. I can feed it junk food and I tend to binge. When I love my body I want to fuel it with good food and to keep it looking good. Developing respect and love for my body and focusing on self-care is something that helps me want to eat healthy food and want to exercise. If you can relate to this, then try our free self-care journal.
Develop New Habits
Habits are things we do without even thinking. If you can change your habits to develop a healthy lifestyle then you are pretty much halfway there. See our free habit tracker.
Keep a Food Log
A food diary keeps track of what you eat. Studies have shown that when you write down what you eat then you eat less and make better food choices. It also makes you accountable. This study on the role of dietary tracking on weight loss showed the importance of frequent dietary tracking for consistent long-term weight loss success.
How to Manifest Weight Loss
Firstly, can you manifest weight loss? Yes, the law of attraction techniques can all be used to manifest anything including weight loss. You can use any weight loss manifestation technique mentioned below but you are not limited to one method. If you combine as many methods as you can you will be more successful.
We provide a free printable or digital manifestation journal that will help you manifest weight loss. It includes the different manifestation methods so you will not have to study how to manifest. Instead, let the manifestation journal guide you through the process. If you don’t want to use our free journal, then write your thoughts in a blank notebook. Describe how you will feel when you reach your healthy weight, visualize your perfect body, express gratitude, write about love and gratitude for positive energy. Write weight loss affirmations for a positive body image. These are some of the things that are included in our free manifestation journal for weight loss.
In order to manifest weight loss, you need to focus on where you want to be. Visualize yourself at your ideal weight as often as you can. Before you go to sleep, picture yourself thin. Imagine how you will feel and look. Your subconscious mind takes over as you sleep. Before you drift off to sleep visualize yourself at your ideal weight and think about how you will look, feel and move. Go into as much detail as you can and imagine how everyday life will be when you reach your goals. How will you feel when you exercise, when you get dressed, when you buy clothes, etc.
You must allow yourself to dream, and be confident that your dreams can become reality.
Create a weight loss manifestation board or vision board. Use old photos of your thinner self or motivating images of other people who have realistic bodies (not Photoshopped or anorexic images). Your expectations should be realistic. A vision board will help you set goals and visualize them. It is a graphic representation of your manifest list.
Get Rid of Limiting Thoughts
We often have negative self-limiting thoughts as a result of negative thinking about our bodies and our ability to lose weight. Self-limiting thoughts cause negative thoughts that prevent you from losing weight. If you think you cannot succeed, then you won’t. One of the important parts of manifestation is to believe that it will happen. Limiting thoughts might prevent you from believing that you will manifest weight loss. See how to overcome self limiting thoughts. One of the ways to remember to have positive thoughts and to focus on self-love and acceptance is to wear waist beads.
Meditation is a great way to relax, get rid of negativity, center yourself, and find inner peace. Emotional eating is often caused by negative thoughts or stress. Meditation is a great way to calm yourself and lower the amount of cortisol (the hormone related to the stress response) in your body.
After you meditate or during your meditation, when you are totally relaxed, it is a great time to practice visualization. Visualize exactly how you feel when you reach your perfect weight. Use this time to focus on positive thoughts that will empower you.
If you want a guided meditation that will help you do this then see the video below. It is an excellent guided meditation / self-hypnosis that will help you visualize yourself thin. Michael Sealey talks you through the meditation and puts you in a completely relaxed state. He then uses many manifestation techniques to help you believe that you are already at the weight you want to be and living like you will live when you reach your goal. It is an amazing video and I highly recommend that you watch it. He doesn’t mention manifestation or the law of attraction in the video but he does follow the method and it is a perfect way to manifest weight loss together with our free journal.
Yoga is also a great way to get in touch with your body and learn to appreciate it and be grateful for it. It can also help you relax and get rid of the negative thoughts that might cause emotional eating.
Gratitude is the most important manifestation method. Gratitude can raise your vibration and generate powerful energy. We need to be grateful for what we have before we ask for more. Oprah Winfrey, who is a master of manifestation, often talks about how her weight loss only came after she changed her mindset and became grateful for the body she had. She was grateful she had a strong healthy body and would write about that in her gratitude journal. This is also very important for self-love which is very helpful when you want to lose weight. Self-loathing thoughts often cause us to want to binge. Whereas, when you love your body you are less likely to feed it with junk and will be more likely to fuel it with nutritious real food. Be grateful for the body you have and express this gratitude daily. A single positive thought can change your outlook and your motivation. Negative feelings or negative emotions on the other hand often bring you down and can be detrimental when it comes to the law of attraction. We attract what we think about whether it is positive or negative.
Eat Clean and Exercise
Manifestation will help you reach your goals but if you just sit around doing what you did before then weight loss will not magically occur. You need to make changes to your lifestyle in addition to the methods mentioned above. Consult with your doctor and then eat clean and start an exercise routine. Try to find a workout that you enjoy. Try to make physical activity part of your daily routine. For example, walk to places you can walk to instead of driving, take the stairs instead of the elevator, etc.
Hypnosis for Weight Loss
In order to manifest weight loss, you need to focus on positive thoughts and on where you want to be. You have to let go of all negative thinking and negative thoughts. This is often easier said than done. One of the ways we can use to change our mindset and focus on positive thoughts is by using hypnosis.
When your mind, thoughts, and feelings cause emotional eating then self-hypnosis for weight loss can be effective. It won’t cause weight loss but it can cause you to change your mindset which can change the food choices you make. Studies show that self-hypnosis can help lose weight when combined with other weight loss methods.
Hypnosis can be done by a licensed therapist that specializes in this technique. The therapist will help you relax through deep breathing or meditation. Once you are relaxed, the therapist may suggest positive beliefs that will empower you to lose weight instead of the negative limiting beliefs that prevented you from reaching your goals. Your therapist will then help you become more mindful and focus on your present state.
If you prefer self-hypnosis then I totally recommend this free video from YouTube.
